Mission
The goal of Brookline Youth Lacrosse is to promote the sport of lacrosse and provide a fun, positive, and enriching experience for youth and parents of Brookline.
All players will be played as equally as possible without regard to physical ability or skill.
The boys play in the Mass Youth Lax League (MYL). The league's goals are very much in line with ours:
"There are no standings kept, no league championship or playoffs. We play all players as equally as possible with the goal of teaching the sport and providing a fun experience for all involved. We police ourselves in the effort to provide an outlet for kids that has not been swept up in the pressure-filled, win-at-all-cost mania that is too present in today’s youth sports."
History
George Vien and Scott Hillman founded the program in 2001 in conjunction with the Brookline Rec Dept. The decision to partner with the Rec Dept was based on a shared vision of making athletics accessible to any child who wished to participate.
The program has grown from 30 children in 2001 to over 440 children in 2024.
